Agriculture - wheat field

As a part of its commitment towards world class products in Agriculture and ancillary fields, HiMedias product catalog offers a full spectrum of Culture Media for the cultivation of microbes. As microbiology of Agriculture includes microorganisms in soil, functions and effects of microbes on soil characteristics along with the plant life development and health, HiMedia products fit to every requirement relating to cultivation of microbes inhabiting soil that are responsible for the growth of plants as well as their decomposition.

General Purpose Media

Agriculture media pertains to Bacteria specific medium like Plate Count Agar, Fungi specific medium like Czapek Dox Agar, Potato Dextrose Agar etc. and Nutrient Agar. These are widely used in agricultural purposes and are very intrinsic to agriculture. HiMedia recognizes this importance and hence provides diverse catalog of General Purpose Media for the detection, isolation and identification of microorganisms inhabiting agricultural fields like Actinomycetes and blue green algae, bacteria, yeasts and fungi. Both versions, animal and plant based peptones (as media for Actinomycetes) like Actinomycetes Agar, ISP Medium No.5 and media for blue green algae like Chlorella Agar etc. and many similar products are a part of HiMedia’s wide range of products. Additionally, for other agricultural purposes, our products provide Fungi specific medium like Czapek Dox Agar, Potato Dextrose Agar etc. and Bacteria specific medium like Plate Count Agar and Nutrient Agar.

Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria

HiMedia offers media for both types of nitrogen fixers which are widely recognized i.e. Free-Living (non-symbiotic) bacteria like Azotobacter, Beijerinckia, Clostridium etc. and Mutualistic (symbiotic) bacteria like Rhizobium. The bacteria which are known as Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria are the microorganisms which transform atmospheric nitrogen into fixed nitrogen, also called inorganic compounds. For the non-symbiotic types multiple media such as Azotobacter Agar, Norris Glucose Nitrogen Free Medium, Beijerinckia Medium, Ashby’s Glucose Agar etc. and for other root-nodulating bacteria related to leguminous plants as well as for mutualistic (symbiotic) bacteria, products offered by HiMedia include but are not restricted to Yeast Mannitol Agar and Jensen Seedling Agar.

Phytopathogenic Microbes

Phytopathogenic Microbes

Bacteria, fungi and viruses also cause extensive damage to crops, leaves and fruits. Such bacteria (referred to as plant pathogenic bacteria) are responsible for severe damage and diseases like spots, smelly tuber rots, pustules on leaves and fruits and even plant death leading to economic devastation. HiMedia offers special media to isolate, cultivate and identify these microorganisms using Dehydrated Culture Media such as Cetrimide Agar, Pseudomonas Agar, SM Selective Agar, etc. for Pseudomonas; MP-7 Medium for Erwinia. For the Phytopathogenic fungi, medium such as Oak Wilt Fungus Agar, Limabean Agar are a part of our product catalog.

Specific Culture Media

Bacteria specific functions like Ammonification (eg: Peptone Inorganic Salt Medium), Nitrification (eg: Inroganic Salt Medium), Denitrification (eg: Aspragine Nitrate Medium), Phosphate Solubilization (Pikovskaya’s Agar), Sulphur Reduction (eg: Sulphate Reducing Medium), Iron oxidization (eg: Iron Oxidizing Medium) etc. are fundamental to agricultural recycling and regeneration. Our products are wide ranging products of Culture Media and are designed for such specific bacterial functions.
